Sony has updated its 1999 game APE ESCAPE and brought it to the PSP as APE ESCAPE: On the Loose. The game features a few updates, amazing graphics and sound, and some added mini-games. APE ESCAPE begins when albino monkey Spector puts on an intelligence-enhancing helmet. Suddenly, he’s a genius an evil genius. He soon assembles an army of monkeys and hatches a plot to send them back in time to make monkeys the superior species on earth. Now Spike must travel back through time and capture all of the monkeys before it’s too late. Spike has at his disposal a multitude of gadgets to use while tracking the monkeys. In addition to the net to capture them, he has a monkey radar to track the primates, a stun club to attack enemies, a sling shot, and more. Each level consists of Spike running around trying to capture monkeys while avoiding or destroying various enemies out to stop him. Sony has added a few new features to the PSP version of the game. The graphics have been updated to make full use of the PSP’s abilities. The game also includes snowboarding, boxing, and ping-pong mini-games that can be played with a friend. If you never got to play the original APE ESCAPE on the Playstation, or you want to relive the monkey-chasing adventure, here’s your chance.
