Majesco’s INFECTED for the PSP brings zombies to the handheld as players rush to stop the army of the undead and the virus that created it. The third-person shooter contains plenty of action, humor, and, of course, zombies. The game is set in New York during Christmas time. The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is being lit and everyone is happy and excited until a zombie crawls out from under the tree. Before anyone can react, a zombie-Santa attacks the crowd, and soon the entire square is overrun. Once news reaches the NYPD, officer Stevens, who is oddly immune to the zombie virus, is soon put on the case by virtue of being the only policeman left alive. One interesting aspect of INFECTED is that players get to customize Officer Stevens as they see fit, including selecting gender, hair color, body type, outfit, and other options. Players can also unlock more options as they progress through the game. A number of different weapons are available in the game. The first is a blood gun that actually shots a capsule full of Stevens’ zombie-repellant blood. However, the blood gun only works after a zombie has been wounded by more traditional weaponry like a pistol, machine gun, or rocket launcher.
