RENGOKU: THE TOWER OF PURGATORY by Konami for the PSP is an action game that puts players in control of A.D.A.M., a rogue battle android that has the ability to attach weapons to its arms, chest, and head. A.D.A.M. uses these weapons to hunt down other robots as he explores the eight levels of the Tower of Purgatory. The game is loosely based on Dante’s Divine Comedy and features dark, mysterious levels and characters. Each level of the tower has players working through randomly generated rooms while attacking robots. After defeating a robot, players can take weapons or other items from its body and equip them on A.D.A.M., allowing players to customize him in almost limitless ways. In addition to the single-player mode, RENGOKU: THE TOWER OF PURGATORY also features a multiplayer mode that supports up to four players and the ability to trade items with other players. The multiplayer mode pits players’ android against three others in a death match. A.D.A.M. and the other robots have more of an anime style about them than a pure robot look and were designed by famed Japanese sci-fi and fantasy illustrator Jun Suemi. Players who enjoy robot-based anime or mysterious, dark fantasy stories will enjoy RENGOKU: THE TOWER OF PURGATORY.
